Single Glazing Repair in London
For cracked or broken single-pane window glass in London and Surrey, call London Glazing on 07949 775317. Tell us your postcode, which opening is damaged and whether the property is secure. We provide a mobile assessment and replacement fitting service at your premises.
A broken pane does not necessarily mean the whole window must be replaced. The condition of the frame, the way the glass is held in place and the required glass specification need checking before a glass-only replacement is agreed. Do not try to remove damaged glazing yourself.
Understanding single-pane glazing
Single glazing has one pane of glass, rather than the two panes and sealed space found in a double-glazed unit. It generally provides less thermal insulation than suitable double glazing. Replacing broken single glass restores the opening; it should not be presented as a guaranteed improvement in insulation or condensation.
Older timber windows, metal frames and decorative glazing can require different fixing methods. Tell us if the building is listed or subject to conservation restrictions, and confirm any permissions needed before changing its glazing. Existing appearance alone does not establish the correct replacement specification.
Assessing and replacing the damaged pane
We discuss the damage, check the existing frame and establish the dimensions and glass type before arranging the work. Door glazing, low-level panes and other impact-risk locations may need safety glass. The choice between ordinary, toughened, laminated or specialist glass depends on the application and applicable requirements.
For more about safety glass, see toughened glass replacement. If your window has two panes with moisture between them, see double-glazing repairs instead: that may require a replacement sealed unit rather than a single pane.
Made-to-measure or specialist glass may require a separate fitting visit. We confirm the proposed repair and arrangements for your opening rather than promise every pane can be replaced immediately. Significant frame damage may affect whether a glass-only repair is suitable.
Keeping the opening safe while a repair is arranged
Keep people and pets away from loose glass and the area beneath it. Do not lean through the opening, pull out fragments or operate a window containing unstable glass. Where an opening is exposed, temporary boarding up may be appropriate until replacement glass is ready, subject to the condition of the frame and safe access.
Information to have ready when calling
Give the postcode, floor level, window type and an on-site contact. Describe whether the glass is cracked, loose or missing, and mention restricted access, parking or loading arrangements. Photographs taken from a safe position can help an initial discussion, but do not replace final measurements and assessment.
For rented or managed premises, tell us who can authorise the work and provide access. We take emergency enquiries 24/7; attendance and the available repair or temporary-protection options must be confirmed for your address.
